Desta is Looking for New Providers for the Expert Patient Service

Desta is looking for five new providers to join the nine organisations already delivering the Expert Patient Service. The average contract is between £12,000 and £24,000 and involves running courses for people with long-term health conditions or for carers.

Each course has six half day sessions, which take place weekly. The course includes living well, managing pain and fatigue, relaxation techniques, working with medical professionals and better communication skills. Provider organisations set up the courses, recruit between 12 and 16 participants for each course and ensure that records are completed. Providers also take part in the monthly Service Management Group and quarterly community events.

We are looking for providers who are able to recruit people with long-term health conditions (including stroke survivors, diabetes, asthma, cardio-vascular disease and depression) or who are carers. We are especially interested in providers who work with specific communities or who deliver services in the north of Kensington & Chelsea and Westminster.

To express interest in being considered as a provider, please contact barbara.shelton@cavsa.org.uk

Prospective members will be selected through the current membership application process.
